No matter what age a child is, they need to breathe clean air to grow and maintain good health. Fresh air is especially important for children because they are more susceptible to the effects of air pollution than adults. In fact, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO), more than 90% of the world’s children breathe toxic air every day.

One of the most common indoor places children visit on a daily basis are schools.

Schools

Clean air in schools is especially important as children who attend them spend most of their time indoors to learn, therefore, teachers and parents need to make sure that indoor ventilation systems in schools provide clean air.

Fresh, clean air is necessary for students is because when children breathe in polluted air over a long time, it can create a number of health problems in the future. Respiratory and lung diseases such as asthma can be developed over time due to poor air quality and being exposed to polluted air from an early age or through long periods.

As schools are a heavily polluted and high traffic environment, bacteria and viruses can be easily passed on from one student to another via touching, coughing, or sneezing onto someone who isn’t infected.

Concentration

Air quality inside an education environment can have significant impact on school children’s cognitive function, this includes their ability to focus, response times, and productivity. Constant coughing could also affect other school children that are in the same room as it can be distracting.

Good indoor air quality, could reduce the number of sick days taken by students but at the same time, reduces their chances of inhaling harmful airborne bacteria, viruses, and even PM 2.5.

Opening Windows

Simply opening the windows may allow fresh air to flow into classrooms, however, at the same time, airborne pollutants such as pollen, spores, dust, bacteria, PM 2.5, and even nitrogen dioxide (NO2) could also flow into the classrooms.

In order to create a clean, safe environment that is free from harmful airborne pollutants is to invest in a ventilation system for the classrooms and high-traffic areas.

Ventilation System

To combat this issue so that future generations can have good health, it is important for schools to install ventilation systems and for parents to be more conscientious about the quality of air their children are breathing. Air pollution is a serious global problem, but by working together we can make sure that our children can grow up healthy and breathe clean air.

One of the best ways is to install a good ventilation system. Proper ventilation helps remove pollutants from the air and replaces them with fresh, clean air. It would also be helpful to use a system that does not require the need to change filters as filters are a major breeding ground for bacteria and viruses.

At Air for Life, we have created Sanifiers® that clean the air we breathe and the surfaces we touch whilst indoors, whether you and your children are inside a vehicle, at home, or even in schools, our products are specially created to provide fresh mountainous air.

For buildings that use a central ceiling ventilation system, our specially created AFL PLASMA can easily be added to the units to provide clean air to a whole room. It is time for us to help tomorrow’s adults, today.
